Candidate Statement:
Being of service has always been a core value for me. I have always sought to collaborate, serve, impact, and improve as both a counselor educator and a clinician in private practice. I have loved learning and serving on ACA committees and presenting at conferences with other professionals. My leadership experience as former chair of the ACA Ethics Committee and current chair of ACA’s Ethics Revision Task Force demonstrates my ability to work as part of a team, while maintaining professionalism, a sense of humor and commitment to the task outcome. My areas of strength include experience in crisis management, policy and procedure development, conflict resolution, consensus building/collaboration, advocacy and communication. My work as a professional counselor has been invaluable in developing interpersonal acumen and building strong collaborative partnerships, while maintaining professional objectivity when making challenging decisions. I have been told one of my greatest assets as a leader is my ability to see both the big picture as well as the current issue and tackle complex problems with thoughtful care. If elected, serving would allow me to make a meaningful difference in shaping our profession. Additionally, my identity as an immigrant woman provides me with a unique lens for financial leadership. I believe in ethical stewardship of resources while being keenly aware of financial inequities that face many of our ACA members. My service on the board would be rooted in principles like financial transparency, ethical practice and advocacy driven allocation of resources based on need. ACA is committed to long term sustainability and that comes with needing vision-minded leadership that also accounts for the very real present-day challenges. My approach is to remain mission and member focused while engaging in organizationally self-reflective practices that align with the changing needs of the profession.
