Our Vision for the Foundation: The counseling profession changes lives. And the ACA Foundation exists to make sure it can keep doing that at scale, with equity, and for the long haul.
We are building something ambitious: a foundation that doesn't just support the profession around the edges, but invests in it at its roots. That means funding research and innovation that opens new doors to care. It means standing beside counselors when disaster strikes and their communities need them most. It means helping talented students cross the finish line to licensure, because the $15,000 gap between a graduate degree and a license shouldn't determine who gets to serve. And it means giving the public a trusted, go-to resource for mental health information.
We're doing each of these things today in growing measure, with real impact. But we know what's possible, and we're not there yet. Closing that gap takes more than good intentions. It takes the financial commitment of our members, donors, sponsors, and partners who believe, as we do, that a stronger counseling profession means a healthier world.
This is what your support builds. We hope you'll be part of it.
Four Pillars of Impact
Funding breakthrough research and innovative programs that advance mental health care.
Supporting professional counselors through training, resources, and recognition.
Providing accessible resources on mental health and well-being for all ages.
Investing in the next generation of mental health professionals.
The ACA Foundation Microgrant Program invests in the creative ideas of ACA members at every stage of their career — from graduate students to seasoned leaders. Because good ideas don't wait for a certain title or tenure, the Foundation supports counselors whose projects align with the ACAF's mission to strengthen the counseling profession and the communities it serves. From trauma-informed care and neurodivergent-affirming spaces to school counseling innovation and multicultural mental health, our microgrant recipients reflect a simple belief: when we create a culture where every member's ideas can thrive, our profession grows stronger, our communities grow healthier, and the people we serve are better cared for.
