The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its Calendar Year 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule. They propose reducing the conversion factor (which helps determine Medicare reimbursement rates) applicable to most mental health counselors who aren’t participating in Medicare’s alternate payment program by -1.68%. This proposed reduction means that impacted Medicare providers will have lower Medicare reimbursement.
This reduction would be a significant burden for counselors, and risks undermining mental health pipelines at a time when the nation faces an ongoing mental health crisis. Join us in pushing back against this rule. Tell CMS why it’s essential that counselors are fairly compensated for their work.
