On July 17th, the Department of Education released new guidance on two of the largest Bipartisan Safer Communities Act mental health grants. This guidance would limit grant eligibility to school psychologists, excluding counselors and other mental health professionals from hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding.
ACA has been working tirelessly to restore this funding and ensure counselor eligibility. We have met with congressional offices, educated congressional staffers on the essential role of counselors, submitted comments to the Department of Education and encouraged ACA members and other mental health leaders to submit their own comments.
We will continue to fight for counselor funding because we know the transformational impact of having access to counselors and mental health care. Please join us- tell Congress to act now and help restore counselor access to lifechanging funding!
