Counseling Compact Commission: ACA Voted in as Ex-Officio Member

Oct 26, 2022

On October 26, during the Inaugural Meeting of the Counseling Compact Commission, the American Counseling Association (ACA) was voted on and approved as an ex-officio member of the Compact Commission. This role will allow ACA to have a voice at the table and help provide the Commissions voting members with resources they require to make decisions to support the members states of the Commission.

In January of 2019, the American Counseling Association’s Governing Council voted to approve and fund the Counseling Compact. We are proud that three-years later our commitment has made an impact in the growth of the counseling professions needs, and the people served by counselors.

The Counseling Compact Commission is the interstate administrative body created by the Compact. The Commission is composed of one Delegate from each member state’s licensing board or agency and is tasked with implementing the Compact’s provisions for interstate practice of professional counseling. During the two-day meeting, the Commission adopted initial bylaws and rules to move the Compact forward.

The two-day meeting was open to the public, as will all future meetings. Please check counselingcompact.org for periodic updates on the Counseling Commission, and recordings of the meetings.
