The American Counseling Association (ACA) is seeking candidates for the position of editor of the Journal of Counseling & Development (JCD), ACA’s quarterly flagship journal. JCD publishes practice, theory, research, and assessment and diagnosis articles that inform counseling practice with diverse client populations in the variety of settings represented by the membership of ACA.
The editor contributes to the strategy and mission of the journal, solicits sufficient high-quality contributions to JCD to meet production deadlines, selects articles for publication from approximately 250 submissions per year, ensures consistent standards of acceptance and rejection, adheres to ethical principles and best practice publication guidelines, and appoints and directs members of the editorial board.

Term and Budget
The appointment is for a 3-year term beginning July 1, 2025, with the possibility for reappointment for a second 3-year term. The successful candidate will begin serving as editor-elect July 1, 2024. The JCD editor receives a $1,000 monthly stipend for editorial services, and the journal has an annual budget of $38,000 for editorial office expenses.
