Webinar misophonia treatment options

Learn about possible misophonia treatment options

July 11, 2025 | 12-1:30 p.m. ET

Misophonia is a newly defined disorder with a high prevalence in the US that is characterized by unusually strong aversive emotional (e.g., anxiety, anger) and behavioral (e.g., avoidance, escape, confrontation) responses to specific, repetitive, everyday sounds. These are commonly oral (eating, chewing), nasal (sniffling), or throat (e.g., throat-clearing) sounds made by others, and often the triggering source for responses are parents, family members, and others close to the sufferer.

More Information

As misophonia is gaining recognition and scientific attention, patients are seeking help from mental health providers. Unfortunately, mental health providers may be unfamiliar with misophonia, mistakenly believe they cannot be helpful and do not help the client. In this webinar, participants will discover how to use process-based therapy as a framework for individualizing psychotherapy for those with misophonia, learn how to use the BASIC model to identify biopsychosocial processes to change and identify known evidence-based treatment strategies to tail to help patients.
