Share Your Unique Expertise

ACA is committed to educating and equipping counselors with valuable resources, insights, and best practices to effectively serve their clients and excel in their day-to-day practice. That’s why we are looking to you – counseling experts – to share your unique clinical expertise.  

We are seeking engaging and practical session proposals focused on strengthening attendees’ therapeutic skills, expanding their knowledge base and promoting excellence in practice.

  • Call for proposals closes: Sept. 7, 11:59 p.m. ET
  • Submission notification: Sept. 19

Proposal Submission Guidelines

We encourage submissions from counselors, consultants, business coaches, financial experts, legal professionals, marketing specialists and other related experts with a passion for equipping counselors to succeed in private practice. Proposals should include:

  • A clear and concise session title.
  • A session description (150–200 words) that outlines the objectives and takeaways.
  • Target audience and skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced).
  • Speaker(s) bio and relevant expertise.

Proposal Topics

We welcome session proposals that address — but are not limited to — the following themes:

  • Advancements in Counseling Techniques
    • Application of CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, and other emerging therapeutic modalities.
    • Trauma-informed care and attachment-based interventions.
  • Cultural Responsiveness and Inclusivity
    • Strategies for working across cultures, identities, and belief systems.
    • Addressing systemic oppression, bias, and microaggressions in clinical care.
  • Crisis Intervention and Risk Management
    • Suicide prevention, safety planning, and response to client crises.
    • Legal and ethical considerations in high-risk situations.
  • Working with Special Populations
    • Children and adolescents, older adults, LGBTQ+ clients, neurodivergent individuals, veterans, etc.
    • Adaptations for developmental stages or disability contexts.
  • Integrative and Holistic Approaches
    • Mindfulness, somatic work, expressive arts, and complementary therapies in mental health treatment.
    • Whole-person care and integration of wellness frameworks.
  • Group Counseling and Dynamics
    • Designing and facilitating effective therapy groups.
    • Navigating group conflict, cohesion, and boundaries.
  • Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment Planning
    • Evidence-based interventions aligned with DSM-5-TR and ICD-11.
    • Tracking progress and evaluating treatment outcomes.
