ACA Members Volunteer at Local Boys & Girls Clubs

Apr 17, 2017
ACA arranged a unique volunteer opportunity with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) during the week of April 17-21, in celebration of Counseling Awareness Month (April).

Participating ACA members were paired with local clubs to empower staff and volunteers with the insights they need to navigate many important issues affecting today’s youth, including anxiety, depression, bullying, LGBTQ inclusion, trauma, education concerns, and more.

As BGCA continues to embrace a new organizational focus on emotional health, ACA members will help in structuring safe, thoughtful learning environments.

Last year ACA created a special online toolkit for BGCA staff and volunteers containing tips sheets and podcasts addressing mental health concerns commonly experienced in clubs. Read more about that initiative here.
