Join ACA in the fight to stop discriminatory legislation affecting counselors; to ban “Conversion Therapy” for minors; to ensure hiring of LPCs within the Veterans Administration; to ensure Medicare coverage of LPCs; to fund the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program (ESSCP); and more. Members receive government affairs updates in the Member Toolkit email each month, and legislative “action alerts” are issued to members in particular zip codes when urgent matters arise.
Since 1956, the ACA National Awards have shone a spotlight on those who go above and beyond in their commitment to the counseling profession. Awards are presented during a special ceremony at the annual conference. Members receive email requests for submissions each fall.
Each year the ACA Graduate Student Essay Competitions award two grand prize essayists with cash, a complimentary annual conference registration, publication in Counseling Today, and more. Members receive email requests for submissions each fall.
The American Counseling Association Foundation (ACAF) supports the National Awards; the Graduate Student Essay Competitions; the Counselors Care Fund (created to help counselors who are victims of natural and man-made disasters); and various scholarships. Governed by a Board of Trustees, ACAF carries out its mission thanks to donations from supporters.
