Vistas Online 2016

VISTAS Online is an innovative publication produced for ACA by Dr. Garry R. Walz and Dr. Jeanne C. Bleuer of Counseling Outfitters, LLC. Its purpose is to provide a means of capturing the ideas, information and experiences generated by the annual ACA Conference and selected ACA Division Conferences. Papers on a program or practice that has been validated through research or experience may also be submitted. This digital collection of peer-reviewed articles is authored by counselors, for counselors. VISTAS Online contains the full text of over 900 proprietary counseling articles published from 2004 to 2017.


Counseling in the Information Age: Using Theory and Art to Analyze Labor Market Information

Holland’s RIASEC theory is one of the most influential and recognized theories in the career development field. In the present study, the RIASEC theory was used to examine data provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics for the 30 occupations projected to grow fast (percent), big (numerical), and large (numerical + replacements) from 2012-2022. Visuals and graphs are presented to aid in understanding content and specific trends. Implications for practice and teaching, as well as limitations, will be addressed.
