HT054 - Integral Deep Listening

Dr. Joseph Dillard

Integral Deep Listening (IDL) is a unique system of healing, balancing, and transformation that has evolved from 40 years of psychotherapy and personal exploration. It has been successfully used to treat nightmares, night terrors, physical illnesses, personal problems, relationship issues, and many other physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual issues.

Dr. Joseph Dillard has over forty years of clinical experience treating individual, couple, and family issues. Dr. Dillard also has extensive experience with pain management and meditation training.  The creator of Integral Deep Listening (IDL), Dr. Dillard is the author of over ten books on IDL, dreaming, nightmares, and meditation. Joseph Dillard has received specialized training in psychodrama, Perl’s Gestalt therapy, hypnotherapy, Transactional Analysis, Reality Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. He has directed two multi-disciplinary pain-management programs. In a broad-based private practice since 1985, Dr. Dillard has treated anxiety, depression, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder, couples and parent-child issues, and personal development issues.  Dr. Dillard lives in Berlin with his wife Claudia, who is a German naturopath and art therapist.

Among others, Rebecca Daniel-Burke asks him the following questions:

  • Why work with dreams?
  • Why work with Integral Deep Listening?
  • How does IDL use all these approaches?
  • What sorts of client populations is IDL most effective in working with?
  • If IDL is so useful, why isn’t it broadly known and widely used?
  • How does IDL determine efficacy?
  • How does IDL work?
  • What are the functions of an IDL interview?
  • Are there other issues about how the interviewing process is integrated into therapy?
  • What would you say is the basic goal or purpose of IDL?
  • ACA currently has 55,000+ members, most of whom are clinicians, Is there anything I have not asked you that you want our members to know?
