The ACA Syllabus Clearinghouse is a joint project of ACA and The Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES). We will maintain syllabi on many topics from may different learning institutions. Our database will be updated continually with new and exciting courses and will provide a valuable resource to all counselors. This course will discuss treatment approaches with culturally diverse individuals and families. Students learn the impact of worldview and cultural factors on life cycle development, family functioning, dynamics, roles, expectations and lifestyle choices and the relation to presenting problems. Culturally appropriate skills will be included, as well as indigenous healing methods. Finally, students will become aware of their own families' cultural backgrounds.
