Medical and Psychosocial Aspects of Rehabilitation
This course will provide an overview of the medical aspects of major disabilities and their effects upon social, vocational, personal, and economic adjustment. Students will also explore multiple theories and perspectives on psychologically adapting to chronic illness and disabilities and will learn some specific counseling techniques that focus on bolstering coping and adaptation after the onset of a chronic illness or disability. The content will be taught from a rehabilitation perspective (holistic and a focus on abilities).
