The White House & The Department of Ed. are answering your ESSA questions today!!

Today President Obama has signed into law the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), a bipartisan bill to revise and replace No Child Left Behind.

The White House and the Department of Education  will be jointly answering your questions about the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA),which would make up for the short comings of No Child Left Behind. This new legislation would shift the authority to make very important education decisions to the states, when it comes to accountability, school turnarounds.

This new law delivers a desperately needed fix to our schools. It reduces dependence on standardized tests and the one-size-fits-all mandates on our schools, ensures that our education system will prepare every child to graduate from high school ready for college and careers, and provides more children access to high-quality state preschool programs.

At 5:45pm ET today, the White House and the Department of Education will take your questions about ESSA on Facebook.

So if you're wondering how this new law affects our schools and communities, ask your question here.

This is a big day for our national education system, and the culmination of nearly a decade of hard work by educators and families across the country.
