What are the dates of the conference?

ACA Conference & Expo dates: Thursday, March 16 through Sunday, March 19.
Pre-conference Learning Institutes (LI) dates: Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16.
 

What is the difference between the Pre-Conference Learning Institutes and the Education Sessions?

Learning Institutes are pre-conference workshops scheduled two days before the start of the core conference, on Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16. The format for the Learning Institutes are six-hour (daytime) and three-hour (evening) sessions that offer practical knowledge, strategies and intervention techniques. Learning Institute registration is not included in the conference registration. Education Sessions are held during the core conference dates. Education Session formats are available in 90, 60, 30-minute poster and research sessions.  New to the format are 60-minute- roundtable sessions. Education Sessions will be held Friday, March 17 through Sunday, March 19. 

How do I get CE credit for attending the ACA Conference?

Complete session evaluations after conference at prolibraries.com/counseling from your PC, laptop or mobile device.  Log on using your ACA website login information, complete an evaluation for EACH LI and Education Session you attended. You will be able to view/print your CE certificate at no additional cost.  In order to obtain CE hours for the sessions you attended, you must complete the online evaluation process by December 31, 2017.

How many CE credits can I earn at Conference?

One (1.0) continuing education contact clock hour is given per session hour. An attendee could earn up to 18.0 CE hours during pre-conference and another 17.5 during the Conference Education Sessions! 100% attendance is required to receive credit during each Session; partial credit will not be awarded.

Pre-conference Learning Institutes:  

  • Daytime LI = 6.0 CE hours
  • Evening LI = 3.0 CE hours
  • Red Cross = 3.0 CE hours

Education Sessions:

  • 90-minute = 1.5 CE hours
  • 60-minute = 1.0 CE hour
  • 60 minute Roundtables – 1.0 CE hour 
  • 30-minute Research = .50 CE hour

 

When will the Exhibit Hall open?

Thursday, March 16 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm (Expo Grand Opening)

The exhibit hall opens immediately after the keynote sessions.

Friday, March 17 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Saturday, March 18 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm 

Can I register for the Conference onsite?

Yes, you may register for the conference onsite.  The cost will be slightly higher. 

After February 15, the onsite rate will increase to:

  • $365 for Student/New Professional and Retired Members
  • $495 for Professional/Regular Member
  • $485 Non-member Student
  • $645 for Non-member/General
  • $300 One Day Registration
  • $200 Guest Registration
  • $25 Expo Only 

 

Can I register for the conference for one day?

Yes, the cost for a one-day registration is $300 (member and non-member rate).

Can I bring a guest to the conference?

If you would like to bring a guest to the conference, we now have a special rate of $200. The rate includes a ticket to the opening party, entrance into the Expo Hall and keynote sessions. The guest cannot be an ACA member or an ACA lapsed member. This rate does not apply to anyone who is involved in an educational presentation. A guest pass is good for the duration of the conference. CEs cannot be earned with a Guest registration.

Can I bring a family member or friend into the exhibit hall?

Yes, there is a $25 fee for an exhibit hall guest pass and the guest must be accompanied by the conference attendee.  Children 12 and under can enter the hall free of charge.

Can I submit my registration by a purchase order?

Yes. Please send in the purchase order, along with your registration form, to the attention of the ACA Finance Department, 6101 Stevenson Ave., Suite 600, Alexandria, VA 22304-3300. The Finance department will send an invoice to the institution for payment.  If payment by check or credit card is not received by the time the registrant arrives at conference he or she will be required to sign a promissory note and present a credit card to guarantee payment should the institution not pay within 30 days. The Finance Department will call or e-mail everyone with a balance due prior to the conference.  

Where can I pick up my conference materials?

Registration packets are no longer mailed out, instead you will be able to pick-up your packet onsite starting Wednesday, March 15.  Upon arrival, proceed to the Registration desk at the Moscone West Convention Center. You can also pick up your Tote Bag by presenting the tote bag ticket included in your conference registration packet.

Where will the ACA Conference activities be held?

All ACA and Division meetings and special events such as business meetings, board meetings, committee meetings, and receptions will be held at the InterContinental Hotel. The additional ACA highlighted functions such as the First Timers Orientation, Opening Night Celebration, and the ACA Awards Ceremony will be held at the Moscone West Convention Center. The conference Keynotes, Learning Institutes, Education Sessions, Exhibits, and Registration will be located at the Moscone West Convention Center. 

What are the ACA hotels and when will housing open?

Housing will officially open September 1. ACA has contracted with the following conference hotels in San Francisco:

Sir Francis Drake
Hotel AbRi 

Will ACA provide shuttle busing?

ACA will provide limited complimentary shuttle bus transportation between ACA-designated hotels and the Moscone West Convention Center. Please check your hotel lobby for shuttle bus schedules. Onsite assistance can be secured at the ACA Registration desk at the Convention Center.

What is the dress code for the conference?

Daytime Sessions
In an effort to maintain a professional atmosphere, business casual attire is recommended for all daytime sessions. Please refrain from wearing shorts, baseball caps, flip flops, halter cut tops, sun dresses, torn/frayed denim, club wear and any other inappropriate workplace attire.

Friday Night Opening Celebration
Dress to impress and wear comfortable shoes to dance the night away.

What meals are provided at the conference?

  • Thursday,  March 16 - 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Expo Grand Opening- Light hors d'oeuvres
  • Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Lunch in the Expo Hall
  • Friday, March 17,  8:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Opening Party- Selected food stations and Heavy hors d'oeuvres

What food options are available for purchase in the area?

There are many food options and restaurants available within walking distance of the hotels and convention center. Food will be sold at the concession stands located in the convention center and at each of the contracted hotels.
