Mindfulness as Intervention for Excessive Pornography Use
30-Minute Poster Session
Natalia Dias, Morgan B. Wilkinson,  Audrey Rebecca Lanier
Pornography use has soared as technology has advanced. As sex has become more mainstream, the age of first exposure to pornographic material has gotten younger, with the average age of exposure today being between 10 and 14 years old. Excessive pornography use can lead to shame, isolation, poor relationships, and even addiction. Mindfulness as an intervention shows much promise in the treatment of excessive pornography use. The presenters will discuss current research and how to integrate mindfulness as an intervention.

Sexual Compulsivity and Attachment
30-Minute Poster Session
Natalia Dias, Vanessa Snyder
The goal of this poster session is to increase awareness of attachment styles in those suffering from sexually compulsive behaviors. As a field, we have done a poor job walking alongside those who struggle with sexually compulsive behaviors. We have continued to isolate this population, and we’ve reduced their struggle simply to maladaptive behaviors while neglecting to address issues of connection, intimacy, and community. Because of this, a research study was conducted to address attachment styles for this population.

Somatosensory Trauma Work for Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration Disorder
30-Minute Poster Session
Marie-Claire Batau
Genito-pelvic pain/penetration disorder (GPPPD) consists primarily of somatic symptomology, yet clinical research focuses solely on “talk therapy” approaches of treatment. How can we talk away our somatic symptoms? The presenter proposes to use sensorimotor psychotherapy, a somatic and trauma-based approach, to conceptualize and treat GPPPD and will discuss many somatic techniques that clinicians can use when working with clients.
