Sexuality and Spirituality in Premenopausal Women with Stage III Breast Cancer
30-Minute Poster Session
Cheryl Fisher, Heather Lamb
Treatment of breast cancer results in dismemberment from one’s body and one’s sexual self. Research suggests that sexuality may serve as a path to the sacred (Mahoney, 2010, 2013). Relational spirituality may provide a bridge in which the discussion of sexuality and spirituality can exist (Mahoney, 2010, 2013). This qualitative study examines the pre and post-cancer sexual narratives of premenopausal women diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. Clinical implications will be explored.
