Medicare & Counselors: What's YOUR Story?

"For years I have had graduate counseling students who want to work with older adults....  Supervisors have given high marks for their work with clients and would like to add them to their staff. But when it comes time for employment, they are out of luck because they are not Medicare reimbursable...."
Next month counselors will ask their members of Congress to cover us under Medicare, and we want examples from every State showing why this is needed.  Send a quick email to Art Terrazas with ACA at aterrazas@counseling.org to share your story.  We will not use any personally identifiable information about you or your clients without checking with you first.

TRICARE REQUIREMENTS FOR COUNSELOR CERTIFICATION

TRICARE is certifying counselors for independent practice.  Click here for a briefing sheet listing the requirements for certification—both during the current transition period and beginning in 2015—and contact information for each TRICARE region’s managed care support contractors, who are implementing certification.

Did your U.S. Rep Join the Funding Request for School Counseling?

In April, Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) sent a letter to his colleagues on the Appropriations Committee asking for $75 million in funding for the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program (ESSCP) in fiscal year 2014.
