HDTV, Blue Ray, iPad, iPhone, iPod, MP3, Notebook, MacBook, ThinkPad, Intel, Ram, Duo Core Processing, Gigabyte, Tweets, Apps, 3G, 4G…OMG!!!!!!! Phew! Buzz! Wwwwwwwwwwwwhir! Hiss! That’s the sound of technology (and life?) passing you by. The pace at which it does so can be dizzying, I know. But, dizzying, annoying, mind-numbing, and even frightening though it may be, it is also…compelling.

In all of the counseling courses I help teach, I’m always staggered by the number of students who raise their hands when I ask, “How many of you have never been in therapy?” What’s more, I’m always staggered by the number of professional therapists I meet who are in the same boat. Not good, people. Not good!

I loved school. No. I LOVED school! It was so warm and fuzzy and friendly. The long hallways, the new books, the teachers. The pillars, the brick, the courtyards. Having that feeling of being among like-minded individuals. The constant rush of eager minds whizzing by en route to some important destination. But of course, it does eventually end.
