No, this is not an infomercial. There will be no “act now, supplies are limited” or “now how much do you expect to pay” and forget about seeing me in a suit with question marks or some such nonsense all over it. This is just an FYI to hopefully help you reduce some of your debt while helping others. I am sorry to say that it will not help everyone but for those it does, it can be incredible. This is being shared because it really is not being shared that much and many of you reading this may qualify. I hope that you may learn of it before you pay your loans for years before hearing about it and then realizing you have had the wrong types of loans to qualify. Do not worry though if you have the wrong type; if you contact the loan folks they can help you transfer your loans to the appropriate type but only those loans that you make to the right type of loan will qualify towards your ten years of payments. Briefly stated, if you work in the public service field such as a government, education, not for profit or other qualifying agency fulltime for ten years and pay your monthly student loan payment, the remainder after ten years will be forgiven. There is some red tape, qualifying requirements etc. but it is worth your time to see if this applies. Most folks have never heard of this program. In fact I paid for several years before hearing about it on NPR or some radio news channel. I wondered why there were not billboards, news reports everywhere, posters in colleges etc. Once calling the program I asked why I had never heard of this program and was advised that it was really not their job to let people know.
