July 22, 2015; 1-2pm ET
1 CE: $29 members; $49 nonmembers

Join Dr. W. Brad Johnson for a discussion of his popular book, Crazy Love: Dealing with Your Partner's Problem Personality. Why are we attracted, often repeatedly, to specific problem personalities? Is it possible to make these relationships work? In ACA's latest webinar, participants will explore the most common personality disorders; their impact on intimate relationships; and insights into setting limits, self-care, and the real consequences of choosing a life with or without a challenging partner

Counselors will learn:

  • Key DSM-5 criteria on personality disorders.
  • What clients can expect relationally if their partner has a personality disorder or traits.
  • Strategies to help your clients navigate these difficult relationships.

Dr. Johnson teaches in the counseling program of the Graduate School of Education at Johns Hopkins University, where he has been awarded the university’s Teaching Excellence Award. He is also professor at the U.S. Naval Academy and has served as a member of professional ethics committees and institution review boards. ACA in the News: Op-ed on Blocked Veterans Bill

by Ashwini Yelamanchili | Mar 10, 2014
The ACA Government Affairs team recently worked with Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., on legislation that would require the Dept. of Veterans Affairs to integrate LPCs into its training programs.
The bill was incorporated into a larger omnibus bill, “The Comprehensive Veterans Health and Benefits and Military Retirement Pay Restoration Act” (S. 1982), which was introduced by Sen. Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, earlier this year. Unfortunately, it was blocked by the Senate; however, Sen. Sanders will continue to work on the bill, and ACA is fighting to keep the LPC component intact.

Part of that fight includes maintaining awareness of what's at stake. Art Terrazas, ACA's Director of Government Affairs, wrote this Roll Call op-ed to once again highlight the important role LPCs could be playing in veterans’ mental health care.
