With a focus on the clinical interview, this session will cover several methods of assessing for depression and identifying the cluster of symptoms associated with depression. You will learn how to better hone the diagnosis, once it is made, to determine: indicators of other mood disorders, specifiers describing current or most recent episodes; and specifiers describing the course of recurrent episodes.

Social stigma, gender role expectations, and treatment bias play a role in the decision for males to seek treatment for depression-related symptoms. Learn why an ecological approach to treating depression in men works and how sociopolitical factors tend to promote male depression.
