Drawing from symbolic-experiential and solution-focused therapy, attendees will learn step-by-step how to help couples create new meaning in their lives by facilitating strength-based rituals that promote their unique values and beliefs. A case example and resources will be provided.

Supporting Families Following Sexual Abuse Using a Trauma Narrative Intervention

Families seeking counseling to address sexual abuse need services that support the child victim, parent(s), and family unit. This roundtable will provide an overview of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, an evidence-based approach that includes child, parent, and family sessions. The roundtable will discuss the trauma narrative intervention, and information will be provided regarding preparation for and implementation of the narrative family session. Case studies of family sessions will be shared.
