VIRGINIA - UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA - Assistant Professor in new Youth and Social Innovations Program

The Department of Human Services in the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia seeks applications for a 9-month non-tenure track Assistant Professor in the new Youth and Social Innovations (YSI) program. The incumbent teaches undergraduate students, undertakes student advising, and is responsible for YSI program development, including developing: student portfolio assessment structure and processes, program outcome assessment structure and processes, and service-learning components of YSI classes, including summer and school year internships. The faculty member will also undertake program administration including coordinating with YSI faculty and the Program Area Director on program activities and direction, internship and service-learning placements for YSI students, YSI service-learning challenges, and Curry student recruitment and admissions.

A terminal degree in Education or a related field is required as is at least one year of experience teaching in a higher education environment. Experience working with youth as a mentor, coach or teacher is also required. Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally competent content in a professional and engaging manner and evidence of an explicit commitment to diversity and of advancing understanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups are essential. A commitment to professional service and leadership and outstanding organizational skills are also required.
