The Position: The Department of Psychology is searching for a tenure track assistant professor in MFT/Counseling Psychology to start August, 2014. Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an accredited Marriage and Family Therapy Program or an accredited Counseling or Clinical Psychology program. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered; however, the doctorate must be complete by August 15, 2014. Other requirements include the ability and interest in supervising MFT interns and master’s theses and analytic reviews; demonstrated ability/interest in working in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment; demonstrated ability to teach a counseling course using competency-based training of basic skills with video-recorded practice, feedback and supervision; training and experience providing supervision to counselors; California licensure or intention to seek it as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor; accomplishments in research and scholarly activities.

Preferred Qualifications: Potential for excellence in college instruction; counseling and/or supervision experience with adult, adolescent, child and/or family clients; ability to teach family practicum via one-way mirror supervision; ability to teach clinical assessment (emphasis on assessment instruments used in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy and individual therapy); record of/potential for grant development.
Responsibilities: This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching (a graduate introduction to counseling course, multicultural counseling, and practicum courses in marriage and family, individual, and/or group counseling, supervision of MFT interns and analytic reviews/theses, and one or more courses in the undergraduate program), scholarship (launch a successful research program and seek external funding), and service (participate in department, university, and community service). Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.
Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience.
The Department: The Psychology Department (http://www.csuchico.edu/psy) consists of 15 full-time faculty members, several part-time instructors, and three office staff members. The department has faculty in diverse areas of study. There are approximately 900 majors, 100 minors, and 100 graduate students. The department offers a BA in Psychology and MA and MS degree programs for preparing students for MFT licensure, school psychology, doctoral study and other professions. The Psychology Department is a part of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (http://www.csuchico.edu/bss).
