CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY - Assistant/Associate Professor and Program Director, Tenure-track Faculty Position, Mental Health Counseling





 The Department of Psychology invites applications for a full-time, 9-month academic year, tenure-track assistant/associate professor to serve as the program director for the department’s CACREP-accredited Mental Health Counseling graduate program.

The Department of Psychology has approximately 20 FTE faculty members, over 200 undergraduate majors, and over 100 graduate majors in mental health counseling, school psychology, general experimental psychology, and applied behavioral analysis.  The department has a strong commitment to increasing the diversity of its faculty and student body.  All university faculty are expected to practice effective teaching, conduct scholarly activity, and perform professional and community service.

Responsibilities:   Applicants should be prepared to assume the duties of program director for the mental health counseling program, teach counseling-related courses at the graduate level in addition to psychology courses in their area of expertise in the undergraduate program, supervise counseling practica and internships, and serve on graduate thesis committees. All faculty in the Department of Psychology are expected to have:  a) a commitment to scholarly activity, b) the ability to establish a productive research program, and c) the ability and interest in mentoring student research at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. An earned doctorate in counselor education (or closely related discipline) by September 16, 2014; and,

2.     Eligibility for and commitment to obtaining relevant state certification and/or licensure within the first 2 to 3 years of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants who have:

  1. college coursework in psychology at either the undergraduate or graduate level and/or
  2. training and experience with quantitative research.

Salary Range:   Dependent on qualifications and experience.

Employment Conditions:

Pursuant to contract negotiations by the United Faculty of Central and Central Washington University, employment conditions are subject to collective bargaining.

Starting Date:  September 16, 2014
