PENNSYLVANIA - PENN STATE WILKES-BARRE - Faculty Position, Rehabilitation and Human Services

Penn State Wilkes-Barre invites applications for a faculty position in Rehabilitation and Human Services (Instructor, multi-year appointment, 36 weeks), to begin August 2014, or as negotiated.

Responsibilities: Teach introductory and upper-level courses using traditional, hybrid and online delivery methods in the B.S. program in Rehabilitation and Human Services.   Course assignments may include introduction to rehabilitation and human services, counseling as a profession, client assessment in rehabilitation and human services, and group work in rehabilitation and human services. The successful candidate will teach four courses (12 credits) per semester and includes supervision of internship. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening and/or Saturday classes as needed.  Participate in course, curriculum, and program development. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities. Engage in activities to stay current in the discipline.

This position is one of two which will deliver a regional baccalaureate program in Rehabilitation and Human Services offered jointly by Penn State Hazleton, and Penn State Wilkes-Barre. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty at the other campus to deliver a portion of the curriculum to multiple campuses using a variety of distance delivery methods. The successful candidates will also be expected to develop close relationships with agencies in our local area that will ultimately lead to placing students for their capstone internships as well as participate in evaluating student performance during the internship in conjunction with their supervisors. Qualifications:  Minimum of a Masters Degree in a related discipline. Professional experience preferred. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is desired. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.

Campus Information: Penn State Wilkes-Barre is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses statewide. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 700 students; about 20% are adult learners. The coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as six baccalaureate degrees (Administration of Justice, Business, Electrical Engineering Technology, English, Information Science and Technology, and Surveying Engineering) and four associate degrees (Business administration, Information Science and Technology, Letters, Arts and Sciences, and Surveying Engineering Technology).
