Tulane University seeks applications and nominations for the position of Director, Counseling and Psychological Services Center (CAPS), a unit of Student Health Services in the Division of Student Affairs. Position Summary

CAPS is a full-service multi-disciplinary university counseling center serving nearly 13,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. CAPS was created in mid-2012 through the integration of counseling and mental health resources previously provided and administered in separate offices. The candidate chosen in this search will become the first permanent Director, and will have good colleagues within Student Affairs and strong support from senior administrators.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Health Services, the Director provides clinical and administrative leadership in the design, development, planning, implementation, coordination, assessment, and continuous improvement of counseling, crisis, psychiatry, and other behavioral health programs and services. The Director serves as a key liaison to other University departments, administrators, faculty, and staff on all issues of mental health policy and practice and represents CAPS on University committees. The Director ensures that CAPS understands and responds to the psychological and counseling needs of the Tulane student community while reducing barriers to student engagement, learning, and success through the appropriate utilization of interdisciplinary mental health programs and services.

This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position; salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Tulane University provides competitive and attractive fringe benefits.

Requirements

Candidates are required to have (1) an earned doctorate in counseling, clinical psychology, or social work; (2) eligibility for or possession of a current license to practice in the State of Louisiana; (3) at least 7 years of post-doctoral clinical experience; and (4) a strong record of progressive operational, administrative, and management experience in a college or university counseling setting.

The successful candidate will be a strong and engaged clinician and manager with an affinity for working in an interdisciplinary team. Previous experience managing a college or university counseling center and developing operating protocols in a campus counseling setting is strongly preferred.
