Mental Health Counselor II
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located at Sierra Regional Center in Sparks, Nevada, a community based agency serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The job duties include formal assessments using standardized techniques to assist in determining eligibility for services, functional behavioral assessments, conducting training, collaborating with support teams in developing individual behavior support plans and evaluating outcomes and quality of life. Duties may also include providing individual, family and/or group therapies and participating in oversight committees and workgroups to meet agency needs.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
Some positions require specialized training and experience working with specific client populations.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Moderate travel is required.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Experience
Experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities (intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, etc).
Experience conducting functional behavioral assessments.
