This individual will serve as primary Counseling Center liaison to University Housing including Resident Assistant (RA) training and consultation, participation on the UNO Housing Committee, and direct responsibility for developing Wellness programming and assessment in University Housing. Will also provide short-term therapeutic counseling and have the ability to provide appropriate and timely community referrals, crisis intervention and consultation services to UNO students, faculty and staff. Will facilitate personal growth, psycho-educational, and therapeutic groups. May provide supervision/training of Master's level graduate assistants. May teach First Year Experience and/or Health & Wellness courses focused on the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Provide campus-wide suicide prevention training, holistic wellness, faculty training on working with students in distress, LGBTQ Ally Training, and other guest presentations and programs. Will serve as Counseling Center representative on university committees as assigned by Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a licensed Mental Health Practitioner in the State of Nebraska. Required Education: Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field. Required Experience: 3,000 hours of post-graduate degree supervised counseling experience. A minimum three years' experience in college counseling, college student personnel or closely related field. Requires knowledge of and experience with providing programming, interventions and instruction on the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Teaching and workshop presentation experience preferred. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Self-motivated and self-directed, able to work independently while also contributing positively to a team-oriented environment. Strong clinical and crisis management skills. Familiarity with short-term models of counseling and psychotherapy. Requires the ability to recognize and provide appropriate and timely community referrals to individuals whose therapeutic issues/needs are beyond the scope of short-term counseling.
