The Position

Working collaboratively with SMG undergraduate and graduate program directors, admissions officers, corporate relations/development and alumni relations representatives, key faculty, other deans, and staff, the Assistant Dean is responsible for expanding and nurturing productive relationships with corporate representatives and other hiring organizations to proactively market the School, promote the talents of SMG students, and generate appropriate internship and employment opportunities in accordance with the strong capabilities and high aspirations of degree candidates and alumni. The Assistant Dean will lead change by identifying national “best practices and excellence” in the field of academic career centers, then developing appropriate implementation strategies, tactics, and metrics to ensure SMG’s Feld Center is among the elite career centers in the United States. The Assistant Dean must build cross-functional expertise among staff and create a synergistic team that is nimble and well-equipped to contribute to the dual employer relations and career counseling/coaching mission of the Center. Enhancing customer service, strengthening positive outcomes, and raising the visibility and overall reputation of the Center among students and recruiters are important responsibilities of the Assistant Dean. As a member of the SMG management team, the Assistant Dean supports broad strategic priorities, serves as a key ambassador for the School interacting with professional associations, external constituents, and the media; and is responsible for data collection, analysis, and outcomes reporting. The Assistant Dean supervises a staff of 20, including five direct reports, and manages a budget of approximately $1.5 million.
