Minimum qualifications:
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as
approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in
the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California
Community Colleges handbook.
Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology,
counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work,
or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and
child counseling, OR the equivalent* OR possession of an appropriate California
Community College Credential.
(NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in one of the above listed degrees and a license as a
Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this
discipline.)
All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.
*Applicants must meet the stated minimum qualifications by the date the
application is submitted or complete the Supplemental Questionnaire for
Equivalency if they wish to be considered. If your degree does not specifically
match one of the degrees listed in the minimum qualifications, you must complete
the Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency and attach it to your
application.
*Candidates not possessing the minimum qualifications as stated above must
complete the Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency and explain in detail
how their qualifications are equivalent to those above.
NOTE: Foreign transcripts must include an evaluation by an accredited American
institution.
