North Atlantic Region

The North Atlantic Region, a region of the American Counseling Association, represents professional counselors who live and practice in the north atlantic part of the US, as well as the District of Columbia, Europe, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

There are 10 states in the North Atlantic Region: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. ACA members who reside in any of these jurisdictions and belong to the ACA automatically belong to the ACA North Atlantic Region.

ACA in the News: Crisis Counseling

Dr. David Kaplan, ACA's Chief Professional Officer, was recently interviewed by NBC News for an article about crisis counseling on the one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. “What you are there for, more than anything else, is to identify those who are having real difficulty," Dr. Kaplan stated.
