The Program:
The University of San Diego Counseling Program attracts a highly
diverse, motivated, and talented student body. The program is
staffed by six diverse, tenure track faculty members and a director of field experiences. The Masters program includes two specializations:
a new 60-unit Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization, and a CACREP accredited 48-unit School Counseling specialization. The CMHC specialization is designed to meet the coursework and fieldwork requirements of CACREP standards, the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and many state licensing boards. The degree requires the student to complete two semesters of an approved clinical mental health internship. The program is distinguished by its accomplishments in the areas of internationalization, action research, and development of community partnerships.

Western Kentucky University invites nominations and applications for the position of Department Head of the Department of Counseling and Student Affairs. The successful candidate will maintain the academic and research programs currently in place while also providing the dynamic and visionary leadership essential to ensure that the Department works as a team to enhance its collective future.

The Department offers academic programs in three areas. The Master of Arts in Education, the Specialist in Education, and several certification programs are offered in School Counseling; these programs are part of the University's NCATE-accredited professional education unit. The master's degree is also offered in Mental Health Counseling (Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Counseling); this program is CACREP-accredited. Third, the Department offers a CAS-compliant master's degree program in Student Affairs in Higher Education. Certificate programs in International Student Services and Addictions Counseling and Education are also available. Approximately 50% of the Department's 500 students are pursuing programs in School Counseling.
