Position: Associate/Full Professor- Tenure Track Degree Requirements: Doctorate in counseling, educational psychology, or related field. Experience Requirements: The candidate must meet qualifications for Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. Must show potential to publish and demonstrate ability to work as a team member. Must demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with faculty in a large master's counseling program with specialties in school counseling and community mental counseling, and a counselor education doctoral program. Must be able to advise graduate students; serve on committees; participate in professional counseling organizations; and demonstrate scholarly research, writing, and state and national conference presentations. Successful candidates will have experience teaching research methodology/statistics and mentoring students in the dissertation process. Preference will be given to graduates of CACREP accredited programs or persons having worked in a CACREP accredited program. Environment: Sam Houston State is located in historic Huntsville, one quarter of the way from Houston to Dallas, at the boundary between the Piney Woods region of East Texas and the Prairies and Lakes region of Central Texas. The Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University seeks a full-time Lecturer in the Department of Counseling and Dispute Resolution at the SMU-in-Plano campus, position # 00053195. Principal responsibilities include teaching counseling course work, academic advising, and providing support for departmental projects. This is a renewable, non-tenured position with an initial one year appointment beginning in August, 2010.
Required qualifications include:
- A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a relevant discipline.
- Teaching interest/experience in counseling and related topics with specific emphasis on marriage, family, and systems therapy.
- Relevant experience in the counseling field.
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas or eligible for state licensure.
Preference will be given to candidates with:
