Editor Sought for the Counseling & Values Journal
The Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC) seeks applications for the position of editor of the Counseling & Values journal. Counseling & Values is a national, peer reviewed journal with distribution of approximately 2000, and a readership comprised of counselor educators, practitioners, and graduate students. Its mission is to inform the readership of research, recent innovations, and critical issues related to the integration of spirituality and religion in counseling as well as ethical issues. The appointment of editor is for a 3-year term beginning July 2011. Appointment is conditional upon the following qualifications:
(1) Experience as an editorial board member of a professional publication or similar experience (associate editor or editor of another publication)
(2) A record of scholarly publications in refereed journals
(3) A history of involvement in and contribution to the counseling profession, including a focus on spirituality, religion, and ethics
(4) An understanding of and commitment to the mission of ASERVIC, including ASERVIC membership at the time of application submission. Demonstration of institutional or organizational support (if applicable) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention and short term therapy to students in a fast paced academic environment including assessment, collateral contacts, information and referrals.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision (preferred), Counseling, or a related mental health field from a regionally accredited university and the ability to hold faculty rank. S/he must be licensed or license-eligible as a counselor, or as a mental health professional, in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland or Washington D.C.
Experience in the education and training of counselors as well as leadership and service on dissertation committees preferably within a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program; commitment to the field of Counseling as evidenced by a strong background in research and publication preferably with a quantitative focus, and ability to teach basic quantitative research courses on a doctoral level .

Her/his primary duties will include coordinating the administrative aspects of the delivery of academic services for all Pastoral Counseling programs and carrying out the vision of the department as directed by the faculty. Required qualifications include: Bachelors Degree in Business, Education, Theology, Counseling, or Pastoral Counseling and two years of experience performing administrative staff work in which program coordination in a directly related field was a primary responsibility; or Masters Degree in one of the above fields; advanced knowledge and mastery of Microsoft Office; a spirit of flexibility, teamwork and professionalism; excellent time-management, communication skills and attention to detail.
