ACA UPDATE: President Obama Releases First Budget Proposal

Urge Your U.S. Representative to Sign the Langevin-Ehlers Letter Requesting Funding for ESSCP

ACTION NEEDED: Call your Representative and urge him/her to show support for the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program (ESSCP) by signing onto the Langevin-Ehlers Dear Colleague Letter, which requests the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, to provide $61.5 million for this essential program in fiscal year (FY) 2010 for use in the 2010-2011 school year. Congress Passes FY 2009 Omnibus Spending Bill

Stimulus Package Includes Billions for Social Services

On Tuesday, February 17, President Barack Obama signed into law H.R. 1, "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009," a measure intended to stimulate the economy through a combination of government spending and tax cuts. The legislation passed both the House of Representatives (by 246-183 vote) and the Senate (by a 60-38 vote) on Friday, February 13. Read more...

SCHIP Reauthorization Bill Becomes Law

The Democratic-controlled Congress handed President Barack Obama an early health care victory as the Senate passed a long-awaited reauthorization of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
